GirlCode Visits Frostburg

The infamous red-headed cast member on MTV’s Girl Code Carly Aquilino came to Frostburg on Thursday September 18th in the ARMAH of the Lane University Center.  The University Programming Council (UPC) and Late @ Lane staff members hosted the event for students as an option rather than going to the bar and drinking for “Thirsty Thursday.”

The night consisted of cracking jokes about sex, drinking, friends and relationships that  made the crowd’s stomachs hurt from laughing all night long.

“Drinking’s my favorite thing to do to the point where it’s like when people tell me what they love I feel guilty about my life.” Carly Aquilinio

Carly’s openness about her life to the audience gave the guests the courage to shout out their embarrassing moments and stories as well. At the end of her stand-up show, Carly allowed a Q&A for the guests to ask any questions they would like. Random questions were asked like how many people she had hooked up with or the story of her first period, but many questions were asked about the new season of GirlCode that will begin this fall on October 1st at 11pm. For more information visit here.

Carly personally mentioned there would be lots of new cast members, lots of cool sketches and “some really good shit” for the new, upcoming season.

Tech Crew who worked behind the scenes created the outlook for the event.

“We had around 5 people helping set-up the event for around five hours. It takes experience, knowledge of events and artistic eyes to make the location of the event really come together.” Dave; Tech Crew

Over 325 seats were set-up to begin with, but many more were added as the night went on when the ticket purchases continued to rise. The stage was set up with rotating colored lights, filters and a fog machine to set the atmosphere for that night’s performance.

As Carly walked into the performance room for the first time, she said “What is up with all of this fog stuff? Oh I am definitely making fun of this on stage I am just letting you know now.”

On stage she commented “It kind of looks like a porn set in here. I’m not gunna lie like… I came out and was like this looks familiar. But… whatever the fog machine I love it. It’s so cool, It feels like it’s on fire, I like that.”

This was UPC’s and Late @ Lane’s first combined, ticketed comedy show, and over 400 students were of attendance. Social media networks like Twitter blew up with tweets following the comedy show that night.

@Gabosaurus_Rex tweeted “She’s literally my fave. Best night of my life @Carlyaquilino”

Lily Turcious the Entertainment Coordinator for Late @ Lane mentioned this was their [UPC and Late @ Lane] best comedy show to date.

“I can honestly say I did not see one person not laughing during the performance. I am very happy with the way the event turned out. We loved having Carly Aquilino come to Frostburg.”
